Breakfast special, a minced beef pie...

Saturday morning can't be any better than having a nice, fanciful minced beef pie for a breakfast. Without having any particular recipe to follow, I just ensure that my filling is great and the pastry itself as great as its filling.
Rested for a while before put into the oven
The ingredients
  • adequate amount of pastry
  • minced beef
  • sliced shallot
  • chopped garlic
  • handful of thyme
  • shiitake, thinly sliced
  • mashed potatoes
  • tomato puree
  • oil

Method
  1. To prepare the filling, fry garlic and shallot. Once the aroma starts to waft around, add the minced beef along with aromatic herb. Brown the minced beef until it started to caramelized. Add tomato puree and bring down to simmer.Add salt and seasoned accordingly. Cook for another couple of minutes and set aside. Off the heat, fold in mashed potatoes to thicken the filling.
  2. Roll out the the pastry until it is large enough to cover the pie container. Fill the pie with filling that prepared before hand. Seal the top and glazed it with egg white.
  3. Bake the pie in 200°C for 25-30 minutes depending on the size of the pie until it is golden in colour...
Perfectly baked, ready to be sliced
With carefully prepared filling and well knead pastry dough, my Saturday's minced beef pie turn out great....pretty much enjoy the way it look, the taste is marvelous and the aroma is mouth watering... gulped it down with morning sip of Bharat Cameroonian tea...
Its time for a breakfast....garnished with dill
